SSW 0.6.10 is now out. Here is the current list of fixes and added features:
+ Changed - Added ArmorPrinter class to handle a choice between canon or non-canon dots. - Added Quad specific charts and code to use this chart automatically for Quad sheets. - Added the ability to choose between Canon dots or not on the print dialog. - Added Availability Code to the print sheet
+ Added - Fixed an issue with arm actuators and OmniMechs. - Fixed up some equipment names and MTF export errors. - Fixed a problem with carraige returns and newlines in the exporters for fluff. - Moved Armor Type on the print sheet to be under the CT points - Updated Armor Type to be BOLD when armor type requires extra rules (Hardened, Reflective, Reactive, Stealth)
You'll notice that the download size nearly doubled. There is a reason for this, and we're hoping you guys like this new feature. You can see that we added "canon" dot pattern printing to the list. Well, it's kind of a hare-brained idea but each armor and internal location now has a set of images that print out the canon dots in a (hopefully) pleasing pattern.
Here's the clincher: Don't like our patterns? Make your own. The files are freely editable in GIF format (the smallest image size that would support transparency) at 300 dpi currently. The program will also support PNGs. If a suitable PNG or GIF cannot be found, or you prefer my older "tight grouping" for printing, you can simply turn off "canon dot patterns" in the Print dialogue.
If you want to make your own patterns you can check out how we did it by perusing the files in SSW/rs/patterns. Be sure to follow the given naming schema and ensure that you have a transparent background for those images. If you want higher resolution dots, simply double the image dimensions, but be sure to respect the given aspect ratio; Java will shrink or zoom them as appropriate based on the dimensions we have given it for these files.
If you make your own patterns, send 'em to us, we'll add them to the SSW site for download. If we start to get new patterns we'll add in support for using different patterns as desired. If you have any questions about this feature, PM or email me.

Does the software select the dot patterns automatically?

And another stupid question: how do you make it work with Linux?

| The program is awesome for starters but when I load my IS mechs to MegaMek their physical weapons don't load (Hatchet, Sword, Retractable sword) and the mech loses battle value and etc. I'm not sure about the clan mechs and the clan Hatchet but can you fix this? or is it a file I'm missing? because I downloaded the newest copy without any problems so does that mean the MegaMek program is missing some weapon files? and if so where would I get them? |

Which version of Megamek are you using? I know that a lot of the earlier versions hadn't missing equipment because they hadn't finished implementing it, but Most of the stuff should be in the current stable version. Also, I'm reasonably sure there shouldn't be a "clan" hatchet, given the only melee weapon they use are talons.... Where did you find that piece of equipment?

Not much currently; The programmers know about the problem and it should be fixed in the next release. Potentially, you can modify the .mtf by hand to insert the weapons correctly, but I'm not sure what needs to be changed...

Deadeye, there are (usually) two possible reasons for an MTF loading failure: 1. We got the lookupnames screwed up. NPettinato is a big MM user and he is constantly checking the lookupnames we output into MTF files, very valuable information for me and Skyhigh. You can check this as well. You'll need to inspect the MTF file in your favorite text editor and find the name we gave the bad equipment. This can then be checked against MM's names and we can fix it. 2. The Megamek developers may not have implemented the equipment you want to put onto your 'Mech at this time, which means that your MTF file will not be able to load the equipment specified.
Ice, check your email regarding making it work in Linux. If you still need help, just send me an email (now that I'm back from vacation).

Well, here is the link for working fixes. Check the Linux section. http://www.solarisskunkwerks.com/loading-fixes
In Linux, you'll want to open a terminal and navigate to the SSW folder. Then run it using the following command:
java -jar SSW.jar I'll add in some OS specific batch files and running scripts.

I checked the file and it calls the equipment, in this case the inner sphere's retractable blade, ISRetractable Blade; and I just found the problem the ISSword, ISRetractable Blade, and ISHatchet don't exist in the weapon name file and the ISHatchet in MM is just Hatchet without the IS in front of it while the two swords aren't even logged into the weapon list but I also noticed that there was the Dual saw, Chainsaw, Backhoe, Mace, Mace(THB), Pile Driver, Armored Cowl, IS HarJel, IS Large Shield, IS Medium Shield, IS Small Shield, IS Claw, ISUnderwaterManeuveringUnit, ISFlail, ISWreckingBall, ISLance in the list. Any chance you could add these in future versions? I mean since the problem is with MM not SSW except for the ISHatchet

I'll do my best to correct that in the next release.

Most of that stuff is already in. Keep in mind, however, that SSW is, and always will be, based on Tech Manual forward. We will not add equipment from earlier books (THB denotes Tactical Handbook). There are several reasons for this: 1. I don't have those books. 2. Others may not have access to those books. 3. IMO the newer books are more balanced and organized and are accessible to all. 4. Availability is listed for equipment in the newer books, not in the older ones.
So, from the list you gave, the following items will never appear in SSW: Mace(THB), Armored Cowl
The other stuff is already in. Try changing the program to Experimental Rules, All Eras (non-canon), Mixed Tech to get a full list of everything that is available.
