Overview:

The brilliant Mechwarrior, Bot Pilot, cannot be trusted to make use of a decent manuever package, so I did not give him one.   I tried to get as close to the 4 million Cbill mark with the design as well.   The extra half ton is a custom beer fridge in the #4 cockpit slot.

I went with average mobility but this could work even better with the heavy weapons and a clean head capper. It's slow speed will most likely be its downfall. We will have to see how this mech stands up to the others we have in this challenge. Would have gotten higher but the mobility is where it lacks.

Hey Interesting...

Someone made something similar to what I did, except I made it faster, and with a different combo of weapons. It is impressive that you were able to add the TC, something that I never tried to do... maybe I should have... ;-P

I like it. It's the polar opposite of my strategy.

As to the question of cost, I'm coming up with 3927000 with both HMPro and SSW, using the most up to date versions I can find, and Removing the ammo on HMPro to prevent it's cost from being added in.

I'm not sure, but is 3025 not too early having a gauss rifle? The Grey Death discovered the Helm-Core one or two years later (which had also the data to rebuild that weapon)...

Might I suggest a few modifications to make this a little better? First, downgrade the PPCs to Large Lasers; this will allow you to engage opponents at point-blank range more effectively. Second, with the tonnage freed up by the first suggestion, add four additional tons of armor, with a good portion of that going toward protecting the rear torsos.
Still, as is, if this design parks itself with its back against a wall and no one closes to the Gauss Rifle's and PPCs' minimum range, this beast can tear more than a few 'Mechs apart.

The biggest flaw in this design is that even tho bots are stupid, they will try to get behind once in a while anyway. You do need to beef up the rear armor just a little bit.

EDIT: @Ice Hellion: Who cares? The ability to shoot back is going to provide little protection from the internal damage that a simple medium laser can provide.

@Samaritan: I'm getting different cost numbers from SSW. Even with a half-ton insulated cargo bay in the head I get 3,893,094 C-Bills. If you put the half ton into armor, you can bring everything except the head up to 16 and bring the price up to 3,901,625.

Someone is going to have to try to figure out why SSW and HMP disagree.

EDIT2: I'm getting 3,927,000 now too. Maybe I forgot to put in ammo, or something.en
EDIT3: Oops, nevermind. The price dropped when I removed the arm actuators.

This is my submission for the 4 million cbill challenge. I got as close as I could to 4 million, the mech's utility was a secondary issue.

HMP Edit: I have tried to duplicate the HMP problem and discovered that the numbers change when you frequently adjust the level, engine, armor, heatsinks, weapons etc.. HMP will not clear all of the numbers associated and so mistakes creep in. My fix for this is to figure out what I want on a mech then close HMP and relaunch it. I will then select the features of the mech. HMP will give you the right numbers if you don't confuse it by adjusting the mech constantly.
