The Nightstar last of the Marauder series died with the destruction of the Norse-Storm plant by Marik troops at the end of the first succession war But the powerful mech was still sprinkled throughout the inventory of every major house army and some merc units even as the availability of advanced tech was in a continual downward spiral tech's from units who had a Nightstar found other means and measures to keep this powerhouse in the field but by the time of the third succession war all of the Nightstars were ether out of spare parts or so badly damaged that they were scrapped tech is claimed to say you can only go so far with duct tape bailing wire and modified marauder parts


Most refurbished nightstars that lasted to the third succession were heavily modified because of diminished tech level of the great houses the ability to create XL engine the engine is changed to a standard pitban 285 or another engine of the same size the chassis is at least somewhat similar to the marauder and some parts are compatible with slight modification Armor on the other hand is by comparison easy to fabricate to fit the chassis

Configuration / Variants:

One of the early modifications for the nightstar is the NSR-7B configuration witch has downgraded equipment but is still a very capable first off is the removal of the Gauss Rifles in order to install 2 Big Bore Auto Cannon usually DeathGiver ,pontiac 100 or some other type with 4 tons of ammo the medium pulse lasers have been downgraded to standard models as with the PPC the small laser is usually kept as it is an easy weapon to replicate unfortunately the loss of double strength "Freezer" Heatsinks and the higher heat main weapons has caused this mech to suffer from a high heat curve but if a pilot watches his weapons fire he can keep it at an even keel

Battle History:

The last known battle of a downgraded Nightstar is lost to history but there is some very old Solaris VII footage of a similar configuration "NSR-7B" tearing up a victor in the background as announcer goes over the standings for that seasons standings but no other information is available


as most house millitarys had a some nightstars in there inventory it is hard to know how many survived to what year and to know to what extent they were modified but it is known that the freeworlds league and the Federated suns seemed to have the most units (hey you can never know what would happen to a SLDF mech left behind after the exodus )

A lvl 1 close range Assault that can nearly use its main weapons and has more ammo than usual.

The most prominent Draconis mech still in production at Various factorys on Luthian and other planets in the DC . Shortly after the war of 3039 the DCMS put out requests for an upgraded desine with new technology the DRG-2N was put through trials along side with the Grand dragon witch wone out

The Master engineers at Luthian Armor decided to use parts that would be compatable with the DRG-1N. The 2N there for encorperates 78% of the equipment the older dragon uses so the LBX toting dragon is guaranted rapid repair all across the relm . The 2N uses a endosteel internal structure and a class 10 LBX cannon . They also tryed to install Artemis IV for the missile launcher but were unable to install it in the head and center torso (ya the program wouldnt let me ) so they installed C.A.S.E in both torso locations. The heads at L.A.W. also were working on the Grand dragon upgrade witch won out as it used less ammunition.

Nice AC Dragon. I like the fire support feel, LRMs, and LBX-10. Nice use of range brackets as well. I do not like the 10 tons of armor, but the standard engine does offset that. I regret the loss of a ML and the fact that the remain one points backward. I see this as Calvary fire support mech, it has enough speed to pick range with all but the fastest opponents and the fire power to down them quickly. so the ML in the rear will see no action. So it is a worthy Dragon.

Actually, that's one of the more silly changes they made in TM; CT mounted racks can't have their Artemis in the head. Very annoying rules change.

The MAD-3R Marauder is considered one of the most effective BattleMechs
in existence. When first built by GM in the early 2600s, its unique design was
intended as the precursor of a new generation of 'Mechs. However the Star
League Royal Brigades needed a machine that could better withstand the rigors
of a battle field environment, producing the RYL model as a result, the other
'Mechs in the Marauder series remained on the drawing board. Although the
Marauder is a common 'Mech today, many of its design elements remain
unique.Verry few RYL models remained in the Inner Sphere after the second
succesion war.

Originally intended as a heavy attack/support 'Mech, the addition of
sophisticated Dalban Micronics comgear enabled the Marauder to function as a
command vehicle in areas of heavy fighting. It continues so today, with
Marauders often appearing in command lances.
Though its twin PPC arrangement is reminiscent of more traditional 'Mechs
such as the Rifleman and the Warhammer, the Marauder's unique, more versatile
ball-and-socket arm joints give it a faster traverse rate and a greater field
of fire.
The Valiant Lamellor armor is another of the Marauder's singular
features. Less massive and better able to distribute heat and kinetic energy
than other armor types, the secret of its manufacture has been lost. In the
present era, the Marauder is one of the few 'Mechs to use it. As blasted
patches have to be replaced with conventional armor, some Marauders now
resemble metallic patchwork quilts.
The Magna Hellstar PPCs that provide the Marauder's main armament are of
an advanced design, compact enough to be carried in the 'Mech's arms and
durable enough to withstand the heavy shocks of hand-to-hand combat.
The Marauder's secondary armament, a GM Nova-5 autocannon, the origanal
whirlwind cannon added almost as an afterthought, with the linkage problem has
been corrected.The gun itself still tends to be rather temperamental, often
refusing to function at crucial moments.
The 'Mech's unusual profile makes it a harder target than other manlike
'Mechs, but some design flaws occasionally plague Marauder pilots. The tenuous
linkage between the autocannon and the main chassis is a frequent target,
because a successful hit would disable the autocannon. The rotation ring
between the chassis and the leg assembly has been beefed up with the addition
and redistribution of more armor. Therefore removing the Marauders need to
bear improvised armor around these vulnerable areas. Still a source of trouble
is the Dalban HiRez tracking system located in the Marauder's forward section,
which severely limits the operator's field of vision. This problem is
comparatively minor, however. The Marauder remains a potent battlefield
In addition to its command duties, the MAD-3R operates as a dangerous
heavy-attack vehicle, outclassed only by 'Mechs such as the Stalker and the
rare BattleMaster. Capable of shooting lighter 'Mechs to pieces and battling
hand-to-hand with more heavily armored opponents, the Marauder is usually
deployed in a heavy shock unit, along with Warhammers and Thunderbolts. Its
PPC and autocannon also enable the 'Mech to lay down a long-range barrage
before actual combat. With the addition of a extensive revamp of the cooling
system, the marauder pilot can stay in the fight longer, cooler and more well

==Battle History:==
During the Second Succesion war a regimental command lance of the 82nd
royal guards B Co 3rd platoon was fighting insurgents on the planet Sky.The
lance was moving to support a company of dismounted infantry, when they came
underfire from heavy weapons and medium mechs, the superior configuration of
the Royal mechs kept the mechs in the fight longer, with better controll and
superior firepower than the insurgents, allowing the lance to eventually link
up with the infantry and egress the area.
After the fall of the Star League, the Marauder found ample employment in
the hellish chaos of the Succession Wars. This common, dangerous 'Mech
continues in the retinue of every Successor State.
An early example of Successor State use of Marauders was in 2828, when
Duchess Ilsa Liao sent Barton's Battalion of the 1st Regiment, McCarron's
Armored Cavalry, against House Marik on Pella II. Barton's Battalion consisted
of 90 Marauders massed together with 18 Warhammers.
This experiment, tantamount to Duchess Liao placing all her eggs in one
basket (House Liao possessed only a few hundred Marauders at this time, and
Barton's unit represented a large portion of them), was a success. The
Marauders annihilated the inferior 'Mechs placed in their way by the
beleaguered Mariks, while losing only four of their number.
Barton's Battalion continued to be extremely successful, until Marik
forces, falling back on Graham VI, caught them in a gorge outside the city of
Gijia. Realizing that they had finally cornered the infamous Major Barton, the
Mariks threw two full battalions of Archers and Riflemen against them. Unable
to close in on the Marik 'Mechs, and with their field of fire restricted by
the rock walls and the Dalban optical system, the Liao Marauders withdrew with
heavy losses.
Realizing the value of her Marauders and the folly of concentrating them
all in individual units, the Duchess dispersed Barton's battered 'Mechs to
other units. Ilsa Liao's noble experiment has yet to be repeated on such a
scale, but it is not uncommon for lances and companies to have a high number
of Marauders.

There are now four major variants of the durable and versatile Marauder.
House Davion's Marauder-D has dispensed with the troublesome autocannon
altogether, replacing it and its vulnerable linkage with a heavy Magna Mark
III laser. This modification is not without its problems. The addition of the
laser has forced the removal of a heat sink, and the laser's high heat buildup
occasionally limits the Marauder-D's effectiveness.
Overheating and the lack of reliable PPCs have forced House Marik to
replace the Marauder's characteristic twin PPCs with heavy lasers. The
reduction in heat has, to some extent, compensated for the concurrent
reduction in firepower, and so the Marauder-M is a widely used variant.
A compromise between the two extremes is Liao's Marauder-L, which seems
to have satisfied no one. Replacing one PPC with a heavy laser has caused
problems, as the Dalban fire control system is sometimes unable to coordinate
the two different weapons on the same circuit. Attempts to repair or modify
the system have been unsuccessful, as no one alive understands the technology.
Often, Marauder-L pilots will disconnect the heavy laser from the fire control
unit altogether, and simply use a manual switch to shoot.

==Notable 'Mechs & MechWarriors:==
Colonel Hunter Whitcraft of Bco 3/116 Royal.(The snakes) Commanded his unit
from a MAD-3RYL. Able to controll his combined company from the cockpit of his
Marauder(The Bounty Hunter), he has been known to preach the gospel while on
patroll but dosnt let it interfere with conducting combat procedures. Well
liked by his Troops. He has been known to be somwhat overzelous in conducting
operations against Amaris troops, ofering no quater on several ocasions.

The MAD-3RYL was only deployed to Royal units even though some managed to be
aquired by regular army units on ocasion.

i changed the fluff just a little ..meh and it runs way cooler than the 3025 mad..ill work on it after all this is my first post since the big change

I see the same fluff as the TRO: 3025 Marauder and find the fact that this has no extra ability over the already existing Royal Marauder disturbing.
Perhaps you should check your sources...and your fluff.
