Overview:

The CPLT-K1X was designed simply to eliminate the Catapult's reliance on a steady diet of LRM ammunition by replacing the standard LRM racks with twinned extended-range PPCs. With twin extended-range medium lasers acting as backup, the CPLT-K1X is able to act less as a pure fire-support BattleMech and more as a general-role BattleMech.

Capabilities:

With an all-energy weapons array, much like the Black Knight, the CPLT-K1X can stay on a battlefield as long as the MechWarrior piloting it cares to. An array of jump jets has been added, affording the 'Mech better manuverability, and a series of heat sinks have given the 'Mech an outstanding heat curve.

Configuration / Variants:

The CPLT-K1X is the baseline model. Two projected variants currently in development are the CPLT-K2X, which trades in the jump jets for more heat sinks, giving the 'Mech a perfect heat curve, and the CPLT-K3X, which trades a little bit of jumping ability and a little bit of armor for the improved heat curve.

Battle History:

The CPLT-K1X is still a prototype BattleMech, and as such has yet to be deployed to any active battlefield.

Deployment:

The CPLT-K1X has only been deployed to the company's test lances, and has not yet made it into full-scale production.

A bit costly but an interesting upgrade of the Kurita version of the Catapult.
Apart from the armor issue and its cost, this 'Mech has no real problem.

Okay, I goofed; when I ran it again, it came out fine, and in fact, you had space to spare. I miscounted how many heat sinks the engine took up in my head. Sorry about that.

I'd suggest using that half ton of armor to put an ER Small laser on the torso, so that it has something in case the arms are blown off. It won't be much, but it's better than nothing.

Otherwise, it's a great mech.

Overview:

In 3079, Clan Jade Falcon, in order to reduce costs, quietly asked Stargate Construction to help design the Jupiter, their "compainion" 'Mech for their premeire assault 'Mech, the Turkina. (This fact is not publicly known, and given the size of payment that the Clan offered, nobody in the SGC is willing to let it slip.) The board of the SGC agreed, and this 'Mech was the result. The design is mostly seen in Clan toumans, but several examples are seen among the Republic's armed forces, and the most famous example would be that piloted by the notorious gun-for-hire "One-Eyed" Jack Farrell.

Capabilities:

The Jupiter, much like its Inner Sphere cousin, the Atlas, is an assault-weight BattleMech. With four autocannons, two PPCs, and two LRM-15s, it can take on just about anything under overwhelming odds and walk away. The major weaknesses of this design are the usual ones found in heavy and assault 'Mechs, namely that they have to rely more on long-ranged weapons since these monsters don't go anywhere fast. Additionally, it's quite easy to overheat a Jupiter without taking care to stagger your weapons.

Configuration / Variants:

The Jupiter 2 variant replaces the four Ultra AC/5's with two Ultra AC/10's, and adds Artemis IV FCS for the LRM-15s. A MechWarrior with Wolf's Dragoons, Geo Keane, has been sighted piloting a Jupiter with two ATM missile systems replacing the autocannons, and ER large lasers replacing the PPCs. MechWarrior Leala Branch of the First Kearny regiment of the Northwind Highlanders has also been sighted in a Jupiter, this one with Streak SRM-4s replacing the autocannnons. No technical data is currently available on these alternative designs.

Battle History:

Jack Farrel's Jupiter has been sighted in battle on a number of planets, including Northwind during the recent Steel Wolf assault, and during that same campaign, on Terra, helping the Northwind Highlanders repulse the Steel Wolves there. Knight-Errant Kyle Powers piloted a Jupiter. His last known campaigns were on Ronel and Archenar. He fell on the latter planet to Steel Wolf Star Colonel Torrent. No other data available due to HPG network failiure.

Deployment:

Known Jupiter deployments in the Republic of the Sphere: "One-Eyed" Jack Farrel, Bannson's Raiders. Geo Keane, Wolf's Dragoons. Kyle Powers (deceased), Knight-Errant of the Repulblic. Erin Johnston, Dragon's Fury. Leala Branch, Highlanders. No data on Jupiters outside the Republic is available due to the HPG network crash.
