The Clans have "copied" several Inner Sphere designs. This is really no different. Rifleman IIC, Jenner IIC, numerous others...c'mon people.

I tested this mech in the Battle Mech Designer and you could only do 22 double heat sinks not 24 since there wouldn't be enough critical slots for the extra two to fit due to the XL engines in the left and right torsos but otherwise its a good Pulse boat ^^

Clearly superior in range and efficiency thanks to the better Clan weapons but a bit heavier than the original Sagittaire (which for a standard IIC version is not usual).
I do support Gauntlet's question: why would the Clans introduce such beast in their armouries?

9/5/2006  Einherjar
Okay, so the last time I checked, the Sag was an Inner Sphere mech. Why the hell would the clans want to copy a barbaric IS mech, when they've got plenty of TC, Pulse laser carriers themselves? Again, this is one of those situations that fluff would really help.

Armor: BET "Iron Hide" Standard
Armament:
1 BET "Big Bolt" PPC
Manufacturer: Bison Experimental Technologies
Primary Factory: Terra Firma
Communications System: BET "Speaker" IV
Targeting and Tracking System: BET "Truetrak" II

Overview:
Though BET had contemplated the constructon of a Viga with a PPC shortly after the construction of the original Viga, Their weapon techs were unable to solve shielding problems with their PPC. Though the problem could have been solved by buying PPCs from an outside source, BET decided to wait until their techs could construct better shielding. In 3049-almost 25 years after the construction of the VG-1A Viga- the VG-2B Viga was finally built. Though unable to achieve the same ground speed as the 1A, the 2B retains the same armor coverage. A single PPC provides the 2B with longer range and more raw hitting power than the 1A.

Capabilities:
Though the 1A was designed as a hit and run mech, the 2B is meant more for light firesupport. The 2B, like the 1A can perform both roles, with an emphasis on firesupport.

Deployment:
Like the 1A, the 2B is deployed to everyhouse and Mercenary unit.

Light firesupport yes but hit and run I have some doubt about it as most light and even some medium of 3050 and even more of 3050 have more speed than it and could close the gap quickly.
However it is cheap, has good protection for its size and has quite a firepower. All things that could really be interesting for units unable to afford upgrades and willing to have a good ration quality/price.

Armor: BET "Iron Hide" Standard
Armament:
1 BET "Hell Fire" Large Laser
Manufacturer: Bison Experimental Technologies
Primary Factory: Terra Firma
Communications System: BET "Speaker" IV
Targeting and Tracking System: BET "Truetrak" II

Overview:
Built by Bison Experimental Technologies in 3025, the Viga-Spanish for beam- was built as a fast strike mech.

Designed as an inexpensive easily repairable military unit, the Viga is a Tech's dream. All components are easily accessable, which was fortunate, as the mech itself required field repairs far too often. Every system on the Viga was built and designed by BET, as such every system was known to fail atleast once on every first year Viga sold, yet, despite this the Viga continued to sell in remarkable amounts.

The designers looked into the system failures, and could not find anything that would make the systems fail. Strangely enough, though no changes were made to the mech, during the second production year no system failures were reported.

Capabilities:
Designed as a hit and run mech, the Viga performs it's role beautifully.

Deployment:
Deployed with every house and Mercenary unit. Ten thousand units were deployed during the Clan Invasion. Half of these units entered battle in disrepair, however, because the pilots utilized swarm tactics, few Vigas were lost.

Cheap and pretty darn good.... Although I would offer the PBI-X and Hoplite series of Ultralight Mechs (15 tons each) at "Wild n Wacky" for your consideration as well. Of course, that's only if you are Clan, and you have cash to burn.... otherwise I would admit that the Viga rules!!

While it is a little slow (at this weight) to not have Jump Jets, I think that the Large Laser makes up for it!

This 'Mech would give ANY lighter unit a run for its money.
