Overview:

   In February, 3023, Denizard Cavalcanti was contacted by DCMS representatives to produce an inexpensive Armored Personal Carrier to deploy foot infantry into the battlefield.
   Although somewhat inexpressive, this contract was very important to Orochi Teppo Armories, not only because it was the first military contract they got after the implantation of the new Marshdale factory and the loss of their former manager, Ieharu Cavalcanti in 3020, but mainly because it helped to stabilize the financial situation of the Marshdale filial.
   The DCMS required a heavily armored foot platoon transport, which means internal space for 28 equipped soldiers, at a cost not superior of 100.000 CBills and to be deployed before the end of the year to the garrison infantry forces stationed into the Pesht District.
   Using the Shitsukoi frame, a ten-wheeled truck developed in 3018 to rally competitions, as the base for the new project, Orochi Teppo engineers managed to finish the new design ahead of time and slightly under the budget. The first unit of the Gallop APC, or Keru APC in Japanese, was shipped from Marshdale before November end, in the same year.

Capabilities:

   Costing slightly less than 100.000 CBills, the 15 Ton Keru is a 6x6, ten-wheeled truck with a reinforced transmission to improve its all terrain characteristics.
   Made in a period where Fusion Engines were rare and valuable, the vehicle was projected with a Magna 70 Internal Combustion Engine.     Cheap and reliable, the engine provides sufficient power to push the vehicle over difficult terrains to a top speed slightly under 100 KPH. Keru APC engineers changed velocity and firepower for toughness, being careful to not to be too slow to compromise its primary mission.
   Armor is its primary characteristic and it has more of them than many mechs with twice its tonnage. Its 4.5 ton of Durallex Standard Armor answers for almost a third of its tonnage and 40% of its end cost, offering a good protection for its crew and passengers.
   The only weapon in the design is a Johnston Minigun, a reliable and well-known Kurita Machine Gun, with 100 rounds. Primarily, it was mounted in a mobile turret, but the approved design had it front mounted and the half-ton of the turret mechanisms diverted to more armor.
   Two reinforced doors at his back give access to a crude but spacious, 3 Ton, platoon sized cabin. Without connection due security considerations, the cockpit access is through a door into the left side, over the front wheel.
   In an overall analysis, Orochi Teppo Keru APC is a cheap and well armored, although not too fast, neither well armed, platoon transport, mainly used by militia infantry units through the Kurita space.

Variants:

   Through the time, some variants of the Keru APC became available. Three of those variants deserve attention, two military, J and T, and one civilian, V.
   The T variant was born firstly than the main Keru, but it was discarded into the initial tests in favor of more armor. Later, the turret design, with half-ton less armor, was rescued as a variant, using a newly developed Orochi Teppo Gattling Machine Gun.
   Costing a little less than the main variant (97.288 CBills) it divides the preference of the crews, due the better fire arc provide by the turret to the machine gun, which is an important point against swarming infantry or during a tactical fast retreat.
   The second military variant, the J, changes a full ton of armor to improve the platoon cabin tonnage capacity, allowing the Keru APC to transport a full-equipped jump platoon. This specific variant is not very popular and everyone Orochi Teppo Military Consulters will propose faster units to deploy jump platoons. Although that, the variant was necessary to supply the needs of some renitent military units.
   The last variant, the Keru V, was developed to fulfill a civilian role, the transport of values. As a civilian vehicle, it could not afford the military grade machine gun and the cargo capacity is an important factor. Then, they changed the Machine Gun and a full Ton of Armor to allow the transport of 5 Ton of valued cargo. Costing 83.313 CBills, it is the cheapest Keru produced.

Deployment

   Due its low cost and the technology utilized, the Keru APC is a common option to infantry militia through the Kurita space. Its toughness and reliability is well-deserved reputations, which made it a serious competitor in its very specific niche.

Overview:

   This monstrous crane, named from the Japanese words for "ogre" and "crane", was the last project with Ieharu Orochi participation, and the biggest terrain vehicle ever made by Orochi Teppo.
   Although a civilian design, it was developed to fulfill a DCMS contract to a multi-function heavy transport platform, capable to be used as a field repair vehicle to its units, whichever their tonnages.
   Iaheru want it to be cheap, at least for something so big, and capable to be transported into a dropship heavy mech bay, because he saw the need of something so useful through IS and Periphery words.
   He died before they ended the project, but his successor, Denizard Cavalcanti, and Engineers completed it and the first unit was delivered to DCMS approve in January, 3020, into the scheduled time.
   Although not so complete as a real and actually rare repair facility, costing less then five Million CBills, the monstrous Onitsuru Mobile Crane Platform became a singular choice to resourceful regiments and specialized field repair units through the Inner Sphere; a superb tool for every unit that afford one.

Capabilities:

   With 200 Ton, where more the 50% are dedicated to cargo, repair tools and miscellaneous equipments, the Onitsuru is a super heavy tracked platform. Its mech size platform and main myomer crane tower, with more than 50 meters high are a reference point wherever it goes.
   Two railroad mounted turrets, equipped with standard telescopic lift hoists, were installed into the sides of the main platform, being used to lift minor cargo or equipment pieces to the unit being repaired. Allied with four standard Repair Platforms that could be easily moved through the main platform itself, they are helpful resources to technician teams repairing the transported unit.
   To allow the Onitsuru to be transported in standard heavy mech bays, they projected the main myomer crane tower to be easily dismounted over the main platform. The dismount process, if assisted only by its own secondary side turret hoisters, could be done in four hours, but its further reassemble needs at least 48 hours of hard work.
   A little personnel bay with work offices and restrooms was included to provide comfort to its 14 crewmen and to the technicians teams working on the platform.
   Six independent tracked I.C.E vehicles, with a combined potency equivalent of a 200 Magna Engine, allow the monster to move at an astonished speed, to it, of 20 Km/h.
   The open platform of the Onitsuru MCP was nominally project to transport 100 Ton of cargo, but there are histories where it was overweighted with additional 200 Ton of cargo at a 50% loss of its maximum speed. The engines had to work at maximum potency to move at not more than 10 Km/h, but they survived to tell the tale.

==Overview==
   Big fixed cranes were common construction tool since the XX Century. The myomer-reinforced crane is a natural evolution of those old giants, were the control, safety, vertical reach and lift capacity were greatly improved.
   Although not so common, its telescopic version, transported by special vehicles, dates from the same Century, and it is mainly used in places were the assembly of a bigger fixed version was difficult or too expensive. With more than 100 meters when fully extended, the crane could be used from civilian constructions to military purposes, like Dropship repairs.
   In both versions, fixed or telescopic, this heavy duty crane exists in every colonized world and could lift up to 25 times its own weight, being limited by the platform were it was installed.

==Game Notes==
   Myomer cranes mounted in vehicles could be used to lift and transport up to the vehicle cargo capacity. Nevertheless, if the vehicle-mounted crane was anchored in the soil, it could lift up to its own lift capacity.
   If a myomer crane lifting more weight than its vehicle cargo capacity lost is anchorage, the vehicle could not move due the weight and will loss its balance and crash. In this case, all rules for fall damages apply to the vehicle and to the lifted cargo.
   A Myomer Crane could not be mounted in omni pods.

   "Repair platforms are large, motorized 'cherry pickers' used by technicians to repair BattleMechs and others pieces of equipment too tall to reach with simple stepladders.
   The platform itself provides enough room for several technicians to work comfortably with complete set of tools within easy reach and can usually extend to a height of twelve meters or more. The platform also includes a small crane that can be used to lift heavy replacement equipment and components, such as fusion engines and autocannons.

Overview:

  The Swarm Project developed by the Orochi Teppo Armory calls for a mech to spot enemies units inside the battlefield, and TAG it to friendly Support Fire. 
  Three independent projects was developed to do this role:

  •   Swarm Locust: a mixed tech variant of the fast and reliable Locust;
  •   Swarm Tower: a heavy mech with good protection, able to survive the close combat;
  •   Swarm Fly: a very fast and very expensive, 20 ton mech whose only protection is the speed.

  The Swarm Fly - SWM-3F is that third mech. Only one prototype was constructed, because its 15.000.000 CBill cost and its low survive prognostics into the battlefield, could not be balanced by its abilities. Then, the project was abandoned after the initial field tests with the prototype. 
  Nevertheless, it is a superb machine. Its 300 Magna XXL Fusion Engine could push it to astonished 200 Km/h, which makes it one of the fastest functional Inner sphere mechs ever constructed.

 

Capabilities:

  In one word: speed. 
  It is not necessary to say anything more about the Swarm Fly. With a very expensive 300 Magna XXL Fusion Engine, and a top speed of 200 Km/h, the other characteristics of this mech are really eclipsed, except by its cost. 
  But, with a Matabushi Guardian ECM and a Sipher Beagle Active Probe, it is an efficient ECM platform, too. Armed with two Diverse Optics Type ER Medium Lasers and 5 Ton of Ferro-Fibrous Armor, it is not too bad as a warrior, mainly if it is into an open battlefield. 
  When working together with the other members of the Swarm Company, its Matabushi Citizen C3 slave Computer and Garret Mole TAG turn it in a very dangerous element. 
  Maybe some day the XXL Engines costs came down and this mech could enter in the production lines ...

Battle History:

  Its very good performance in the field tests, and in the posterior tests of the Swarm C3 Company Concept, were not enough to put this very expensive mech in the production lines. Then, it was never tested in a live battlefield.

  Just one prototype was produced, and it is in the Orochi Teppo plant of Marshdale.

Overview:

��The first major project developed by Orochi Teppo team after its liberation from Jaguar domain was the Swarm C� Company Concept. The project consists in the development of a group of Mechs equipped with C� Systems and specifically designed to work together in a battlefield. 
��One of the projected roles to be performed by the Swarm C� Mechs is: find the enemy and tag it to the Fire Support units. It is a very dangerous job to be done, because it needs that the Mech get close of the enemy units, tag then, and survive to return to the friend lines. 
��The first possibility is a fast recon Mech, which depends on its speed to get into the range to TAG the enemy and get out before the enemy could inflict substantial damage. Two designs were tested to this role, the Swarm Locust and the Swarm Fly, but the problems with mixed technology in the first and the high cost of the second made Orochi team to try a third design: The Swarm Drone. 
��The first prototype was finished in 3063, and ever it do not perform so good as the two others, it was good enough and do not have theirs problems. Then, the Swarm Drone entered in production in the end of that year, at Marshdale.

 

Capabilities:

��With a cruise speed of 86 Km/h, the Swarm Drone is far away from the contest to be the fastest Mech in the field, but it is sufficient fast to do its role: close the bigger enemy Mechs and shows them to the Fire Support guys with a TAG unit. 
��Designed as part of the Swarm C� Company Concept, its potential in the field is better used when joined with others C� equipped units. A Guardian ECM Suite allow better protection against enemy ECM and allied with a Beagle Active Probe make it a superb scout. 
��Its main weapon is an ER Large Laser in the center torso, and it is complemented with an ER Medium Laser in the right arm, an Anti-Missile System and 6.5 Ton of Ferro-Fibrous Armor. That makes the Swarm Drone a formidable opponent to Mechs slower than it.

 

Configuration / Variants:

��Two variants are developed and tested with similar performance. The main variant, called �defensive�, has an Anti-Missile System in left torso and an ER Medium Laser in the right arm. 
��The other variant was called �aggressive� because it was developed to provide more accuracy to the Mech main weapon with an insertion of a Target Computer in the left torso, replacing the Anti-Missile System. The difference of tonnage was balanced exchanging the ER Medium Laser in the right arm, by an ER Small Laser.

Overview:

��After the liberation of Marshdale from Smoke Jaguars domain in 3059, the Draconis Combine found the planet nearly destroyed. As their main objective was to maintain the warrior caste ready to combat, the conquered planet was only a resource of material for the war, then everything absolutely not necessary was salvaged, destroyed or converted into war supplies. Formal economy no more existed and the citizens were plagued by misery and food shortages. 
��The farm products were mainly shipped off to their troops. The heavy Industries of the planet that could be modified for the Jaguars purposes so were, the others were salvaged or destroyed. At the end, Orochi Teppo complex was the only working major industry of the planet and some of its lines were rebuilt to produce clan mechs. 
��After helping the DCMS troops to seize the control of the complex with only minor causalities, Orochi's technicians managed to put its main lines in production. Their primary goals were:

  • Rebuild the trade routes to get external resources
  • Help the planet reconstruction

��Orochi began the process sending some of its teams to other industrial complexes to help their reconstructions. Sometimes these teams had to work in hostile neighborhoods because the hand weapons that helped DCMS attack are now in the hands of hungry citizens. With the government agencies being rebuilt, riots and urban warfare were common and those were destroying some of the rebuilding work. 
��Orochi Teppo�s answer to this problem was the Heimin. It was designed as a cheap mech to be used in reconstruction work and as a police force against riots if necessary. Their main function is to be the strong hand of the reconstruction teams, salvaging usable items, transporting equipment, building structures and demolishing those badly damaged. 
��The result design was a bulk, multifunction, 50 Ton Mech. That was not so cheap as intended at first, but it uses only resources and equipment Orochi already has in its depots and junkyards, always because the clanners classified them as archaic or third class.

 

Capabilities:

��Designed as a multifunction Utility Mech, the Heimin has the abilities and tools necessaries to help a government with everyday labor and riot control. It has an impressive tonnage for a Utility Mech, which allows it to lift and transport up to 25 Ton of equipments or cargo. 
��Its standard hand actuators in the hands of an able jock controller could be very useful in constructions or working with big structures. 
��One big problem in every reconstruction process is the cleaning at the beginning. Badly damaged structures, gas leaks, fire and other dangerous things need to be taken care of before you could do anything. Then, three standard coolant pods and a specially designed exhaustion nozzle allow its use in the firefight role, mainly at open areas or great buildings. More resistant or weighted pieces could be destroyed at low costs with a Diverse Optics Laser assembled in the left arm. 
��Those characteristics are sufficient to make the Heimin a good work mech, but it has to do more than that, it has to help the government in dealing with crowds and riots. When its 50 Ton is not sufficient, the Heimin can use two deadly and much feared anti-infantry arguments to make the crowd think twice, an Orochi Teppo Gattling Machine Gun and a Zippo Flamer. But if a less lethal approach is desired, the Heimin has resources to deal with it too, as it could use smoke or some moral effect grenades to disperse them. 
��The Heimin was not designed to a combat field, and it has neither the mobility nor the armor necessaries to be there. But if it was really necessary, it could be used as a support element to the assault mechs or as an infantry light protection. But its better use is behind the friend lines, dealing with the destruction caused by the combat, helping fallen units and scavenging.

��Overview 

��The Pod Exhaustor Extinguisher is just a pressure valve to control the exhaustion process of a Coolant Pod, allowing its the use as a heavy fire extinguisher. 
��The equipment has no other use than fire combat. 

��History 

��The system was developed for the Heimin, an 50 ton UtilityMech developed by Orochi Teppo Armories in 3060 to help the reconstruction process of the words battered by the Clan invasion. 

��Game Notes 

��The pilot could use it to spray a pod content over an area or building. Each pod allows the control of one fire hex. The extinguisher could be used as a spray or as jet pressure that could reach 60 meters.

��The first Heimin design, HMN-K1, was assembled to deal with large riots equipped with anti-mech weapons. It mixes one Small Laser to deal with heavy demolition without dispending ammunition, two Grenade Launchers to deal with crowd control, and a Shigunga LRM 5 with three Tons of ammunition and a pilot control to choose the ammo type at each reload. 
��The LRM 5 allows the Heimin to deal with anti-mech armed riots at distance and with city gangs running in fast civilian vehicles. Loaded with special ammunition, like flare or smoke, it could be useful in night missions.

��After the riots and armed hot-tempered gangs were controlled, the heavy �crowd control� capabilities of the HMN-K1 showed to be excessive. At the same time, Marshdales authorities ask for a better demolition capability in the Heimin. 
��Orochi technicians solved these problems with a new variant of the Heimin, the HMN-K2, where the LRM 5 was changed for a hatchet designed to be used against hardened ruins and rock structures. With the tonnage left, they added another Grenade Launcher and changed the Small Laser for a medium version. 
��The result was a Heimin that lost only its long-range capabilities, but that is better fit to the heavy demolition function.

��When the Heimin began to be sold to other worlds, Orochi was asked to modify it to deal with forests. That modification was named Heimin HMN-K3. 
��Looking at the HMN-K1 and the modifications done to reach the HMN-K2, Orochi�s technicians chose the simple approach to that new alteration: they just changed the LRM 5 for another hand device, more adaptable to deal with forests, an old logger chainsaw design produced in the factory 20 or more years before. 
��The modification was so simple that they could begin the production of the HMN-K3 less than a month after the request.

��The HMN-K4 was another variant designed by a customer request. A world not attacked by the clanners wanted some Heimin to help its workers to deal with hostile environments. But they wanted some cargo capability and did not like the hatchet design. 
��This modification was easier than that of the HMN-K3. The techs used a HMN-K2 variant as a base, removed the hatchet and included a 4 Ton cargo bay in the space left in the right torso by the LRM 5. 
��The world agent could see the first prototype before he returned home, a few days later.

Battle History:

��Meaning commoner or citizen in Japanese, the Heimin could be found in all reconstruction camps after 3060, protecting and helping the foot workers with the hard jobs. 
��Every Marshdale citizen who worked in the reconstruction has a tale with this bulky mech. Their relation with it is stronger as ever planned. One tale was about a Heimin supporting a falling structure while all work team goes out there. After the fall, with no victims, the team worked together for nearly 40 hours until the Heimin was liberated from the junk pile and sent to repairs. 
��He is one of them, and they know it.

 

Deployment:

��Theodore Kurita himself allowed Orochi Cavalcanti to create a special loan line to help the battered planets, liberated from Smoke Jaguars in Operation Bulldog, to buy this design to their reconstruction teams. Then, a great number of Heimin was shipped mainly to those worlds. Other planet requests for Heimin units were made after its success in this role. 
��After 3062, Orochi got a special permission from ISF to sell civilian designs to all others Houses in an effort to improve the Draconis Combine commerce and economy. The Heimin was one of his designs classified as civilian and allowed to be exported.

You have entirely to much time on to write that much fluff =). Onto the mech: For a utility mech, I guess its alright, I dunno much about em. For its intended role as part construction mech, part police mech, seems pretty ok. Maybe a little slow, but that's jus me.

Overview:

  The first major project developed by Orochi Teppo team after its liberation from Jaguar domain was the Swarm C3 Company Concept. The project consists in the development of a group of mechs equipped with C3 Systems and specifically designed to work together in a battlefield. 
  One of the restrictions of the C3 Systems is that one C3 Master Computer could only control up to three others units. Then, to a full Company, it is necessary four master units in the field.
  Developed in late 3062, the Knight is one of these carriers. Almost designed around the C3 Master Computer and a Guardian ECM, this mech operates at the border of the combat field, providing the necessary link between the fighters into the field and the support fire outside it. 
  As a fundamental piece of the C3 system, it needs heavy armor and the necessary structure to withstand close combat if necessary, but their main contact will be at long range and against the fastest enemy units. 
  The first prototype walked out of the lunge in mid 3063, and two of its tested variants came to production later, in that year.

 

Capabilities:

  Developed as one of the C3 Master carriers of the Swarm C3 Company Concept, the Knight was intended as a "long range" warrior, which will operate near the battlefield border. 
  Its first mission is to maintain the C3 Command structure, feeding information from its controlled lance to the Company Master unit. To do that, it has to operate in the border of the battlefield, within the C3 contact range with the units inside it. 
  Its secondary missions includes:

  • Defends itself from the enemy fast machines;
  • Long range fire protection to the units inside the battlefield;
  • Defend the support units.

  As one of key machines of the C3 system command structure, it has to avoid direct combat as much as possible or deal with their opponents as fast as possible. Its both variants were developed under the same concept: inflict as damage as possible before they get close. 
  The main variant, labeled "L", uses a better maneuver capacity of five Standard Jump Jets and a pair of ER Large Lasers linked with a Target Computer to weak the enemies, maintaining three ER Small Lasers as secondary weapons for close combat. 
  The secondary, labeled "M", lacks the jump capability, but has four Artemis IV equipped LRM 5 as its main weaponry, and four ER Medium Lasers to close combat, complemented by an Anti-Missile System. 
  The main variant performed a slight better in the preliminary tests, but both were scheduled to full production.

  All Knights variants were developed over the same base, a 70 Ton machine, with an Endo Steel Chassis and a 350 XL Fusion engine. 
  Equipped with 13,5 Ton of Standard Armor, a Guardian ECM and the C3 Master Computer, this mech has 54 Km/h of cruise speed and is great command platform. 
  Two variants were developed, one Laser oriented and another Missile oriented.

  The Swarm Knight Model L exchanges firepower for maneuverability and accuracy. Its five jump jets allow it jumps 150 meters and the addition of a Target Computer and 2 ER Large Laser makes it a dangerous sniper. 
  Their main problem is the lack of firepower at close combat, where its pilot has to use its accuracy to defeat its enemy with only three ER Short Lasers.

Without the jump capability of the Model L, the Model M relies in its secondary weapons, four ER Medium Lasers, to finish its close combat skirmishes. But it was intended to make some hard damage in them, using its four Artemis IV equipped LRM 5, before they could get too close. 
  An Anti-Missile System in the head completes the design, but with only one Ton of ammunition, it could be not so helpful if the mech was discovered too fast in a combat.

Overview:

��The first major project developed by Orochi Teppo team after its liberation from Jaguar domain was the Swarm C3 Company Concept. The project consists in the development of a group of mechs equipped with C3 Systems and specifically designed to work together in a battlefield. 
��One of the projected roles to be performed by the Swarm C3 mechs is: find the enemy and tag it to the Fire Support units. It is a very dangerous job to be done, because it needs that the mech get close of the enemy units, tag then, and survive to return to the friend lines. 
��The first possibility is a fast recon mech, which depends on its speed to get into the range to TAG the enemy and get out before the enemy could inflict substantial damage. 
��Other possibility is a good close range fighter, which could combat inside the enemy lines and survive the damage taken in the process. The Swarm Tower was designed to do that. With 80 Ton, a good medium range weapons array and heavy armor, it is a good fighter and an enemy that could not be underestimate in any circumstances. 
��Inside a C3 array, with friendly support fire from outside the field, this mech could be really deadly.

 

Capabilities:

��Although the existence of one variant equipped with LRM and Large Pulse Lasers, the Swarm Tower was designed as a close combat warrior. With a cruise speed of 43 Km/h, 15.5 Ton of standard armor and 120 meters of jump capability, it has the durability and maneuverability necessary to survive the close contact within enemy lines. 
��Equipped with a C3 Slave and a TAG unit to fit the Swarm C3 Company Concept and a very reliable Matabushi Guardian ECM, the Tower was designed to control the battlefield under a heavy support fire from the friendly units. 
��The good fire capability of the Model A at medium ranges and that of the Model M at close ranges make both units deadly opponents, ever without friendly support fire. 
��Unfortunately the Model T did not performed as good as the others in the firsts Swarm C3 tests and was not scheduled for production. Nevertheless, it still exists in Orochi Teppo catalog, and could be produced at customers request.

��Three variants were developed, but just two of them, the Models A and M, came to normal production at 3063. All variants were developed over the same base platform, which the main differences between them in the weapons combination used. 
��15,5 Ton of standard armor over an 80 Ton Foundation Ultralight endo-steel chassis with a 320 Magna XL Fusion engine form the core of this base platform used. And it is complemented with four Chilton 460 standard jump jets and a Matabushi Guardian ECM unit. 
��Other common characteristic of all knew models are the use of a Garret Mole TAG and a Matabushi Citzen C3 slave unit, listed in Orochi Teppo prospects as Swarm C3 company concept common features.

��The Model M variant was developed to fight at very close distance. Normally its two Shigunga MRM 20 will be used as secondary weapons because it does not have a good accuracy, but the Tower was intended to close range use, where they could be deadly. 
��Its secondary weapon array consists of two Guided Technologies Streak SRM 4 complemented with four Medium Lasers and three ER Small Lasers. 
��As a close range fight, the Tower needs some protection in its way to that range. To help in this path it has an Anti-Missile System, but just 1 Ton of ammunition to it, which is one of its knew flaws. 
��Another important problem is the heat dissipation. Its 12 Double Heat Sink are not sufficient to the amount of heat generated by its weapons. Then, this model needs a experienced pilot, and he must use its weapons with careful.

��Two LRM 10 and two Large Pulse Lasers, complemented with a sole ER Small Laser, are the weapon array of the last variant developed, the Model T. It is not impressive weaponry to an 80 Ton mech. 
��But the addition of an Artemis IV system and a Targeting Computer improve the accuracy of all weapons and makes this variant very dangerous in the field. 
��Although the Model T variant had good individual tests, it does not performed as good as the others in the tests of the Swarm C3 Company Concept. The main problem with it was which it has a different concept than that of the role they need to accomplish. 
��With a good operational range between medium and long, the Model T was unable to perform its function of show off the enemy units to the support guys. Then, it was not being produced within the Swarm C3 production lines. 
��Nevertheless, it proved to be a good mech and Orochi Teppo engineers are working in a new version of this variant idea, without the C3 Slave and the TAG, to be produced as an individual unit, outside the Swarm C3 production lines.

Overview:

��The first major project developed by Orochi Teppo team after its liberation from Jaguar domain was the Swarm C3 Company Concept. The project consists in the development of a group of mechs equipped with C3 Systems and specifically designed to work together in a battlefield. 
��Amongst the limitations of the C3 System, the maximum of twelve Mechs in one C3 Network and three C3 Computers under each C3 Master are the main problems during the design phase. It limits the designers with two approaches, have four mechs with C3 Master in the company, or put one command mech with two C3 Masters in the field. 
��With the Swarm Knight to perform the first role, they need one command mech to fulfill the second. Then, in early 3063, they began the tests of the Swarm Queen, a command unit with two C3 Master Computers and good ECM control. 
��Designed to operate together with the support fire units, they choose to sacrifice the long-range fire capability of the Queen and concentrate all its firepower at medium and short ranges, allowing it to work as the support fire units defender, if any enemy mech manages to get too close. 
��The initial tests of the Swarm Queen were done at late 3063 in Marshdale and the design performed very well. One important result of the analysis of these tests was the creation of another variant exchanging some firepower for better accuracy. 
��Unfortunately the second variant could not be fully developed before 3064, and just the first was delivered to DCMS field tests which happened early this year.

 

Capabilities:

��Obviously, the main characteristic of the Swarm Queen is its two C3 Master Computers. It was specifically projected to carry theirs 10 Ton, at the expense of its firepower. Nevertheless, it is an 85 Ton jump capable mech, with a good weapon configuration and sufficient heat dissipation. 
��Designed to be the commandant of a full C3 Company into the battlefield it is equipped with a reliable communication system. But, as a command unit, it is a preferential target, and need as much protection as possible, then it has 16 Ton of Standard Armor and a good ECM platform to help its survival capabilities in the field. 
��Although its lack of firepower when compared with mechs of similar tonnage, limited by the tonnage used by the C3 Masters, the Swarm Queen is a formidable mech in his field. It was intended to enter in combat only as the last option, just after the support fire barrage battered the enemy units, and at close range. Then, its two Streak SRM/6 allied with a good medium range laser platform are a effective and dangerous combination.

 

Configuration / Variants:

��At the beginning, just one variant of the Swarm Queen was developed. With 85 Ton, but 10 of that used to its two C3 Master computers, the Swarm Queen is slight underpowered for a mech of its class. Nevertheless, both variants of the Swarm Queen have a good maneuverability and superb ECM and communication platforms. 
��The Queen is based in a standard Foundation chassis, with a Magna 340 XL engine. It is slight slower than the average heavy class mechs, but it has a jump capability of 120 meters. 
��Intended to be one command platform, the main protection of the Swarm Queen is 16 Ton of Standard Armor and its tactic position outside the battlefield, protected by heavy fire support units.

��The first model developed, the Model L was developed to medium or short ranges skirmishes. Its main weapons array consists of two Streak SRM 6 and six Standard Medium Lasers. 
��Its secondary array is just two Small Lasers to be used against infantry. And these weapons are complemented with one Anti-Missile System and fifteen Double Heat Sinks. 
��The main problems of the design are the relatively short range of its weapon array, and the lack of more ammunition to the AMS. Only one ton of that is sufficient just to the first moments of the combat.

��In the end of 3063, the first tests of the Model L showed that a better accuracy could help the Swarm Queen to resolve its skirmishes fast. The Swarm Queen Model P was developed by Orochi Teppo to accomplish this goal. 
��Maintaining the Streak SRM6 of the original design, they exchanged the firepower of the six Medium Lasers, for the better accuracy of 4 Medium Pulse Lasers and a Targeting Computer, and the secondary array was changed to two Machine Guns. 
��The Anti-Missile System with just one Ton of ammunition, considered useless by some analysts, and some Double Heat Sinks were striped off to make tonnage to the other modifications. As the new configuration generates less heat, it did not compromise the heat curve of the variant. 
��At the end of 3064, the Model P was tested in Marshdale installations with good performance.

Overview:

��The Swarm C3 Company Concept was the first major project implemented by Orochi Teppo Armories after its liberation from smoke Jaguar domain. The project consists in the development of a group of mechs equipped with C3 Systems and specifically designed to work together in a battlefield. 
��The Swarm Bishop was developed to fulfill one of the most important roles in the C3 project, the support fire. Its development begun in 3063 using the Swarm Queen SWM-2Q as the base to the new design. This allowed the development team to have the first prototype just a few months after that, in the first quart of 3064. 
��One common characteristic of all Swarm Project Mechs, outside the C3 Computer, is the use of a good ECM platform in the design, and the Bishop use almost the same Matabushi Guardian from its parent design. 
��This specialized heavy mech was equipped with one of the most deadly weapon that a mech could mount, an Arrow IV Missile System. But it uses almost all the free tonnage of the mech.

 

Capabilities:

��Based on the Swarm Queen design, the Swarm Bishop uses the same chassis, engine, jump jets and electronics systems of its mech parent. The main and obvious modification is the bulky Arrow IV system into the left torso and part of the arm. 
��With 5 Ton of ammunition, one of these units, operating from outside of the battlefield, could crippled or destroy a heavy lance before they could get close enough to return fire. 
��Heavily protected by 16.5 Ton of Standard Armor, good ECM and 120 meters of jump capability, the Bishop could outstand a lot of damage before could be taken down. The heat dissipation of the design is sufficient to maintain the mech in combat using all its firepower, but the pilot need to pay attention in that to avoid surprises. 
��Nevertheless, the design has its flaws. With only six Medium Lasers, or three medium pulse lasers in the second variant, the mech was not developed to direct combat and need to be protected into the battlefield. 
��Some analysts claim that the anti-missile system on the Model A variant is almost useless, because it has only one Ton of ammunition. But it could be helpful if the enemy came sufficient close to use LRMs against him.

 

Configuration / Variants:

��The project of the Bishop used the Swarm Queen design as its base. The same Foundation 210 chassis, with 85 Ton and a 340 Magna XL engine were used. Although for the Arrow IV, the Bishop looks like the Queen. 
��It reduced the main development into the adaptation of the Arrow IV system with 5 Ton of CASE protected ammunition to the design. 
��To get better maneuverability they opted to maintain the four Chilton Standard Jump Jets they used in the Queen project, but they had to mode those two into the torso to the legs. 
��The base configuration was complemented with one Garret Mole TAG system, a C3 Slave Computer and a good Matabushi Guardian ECM platform. Two variants are in production, and they differ only in the defensive weapon array used.

��With less firepower then the Model B, the Model P variant relies in the accuracy to deal with close combat threats. The AMS and standard Lasers were exchanged to three Medium Pulse Lasers and a Targeting Computer. 
��As this configuration produce less heat, and to balance the tonnage, one DHS was exchanged to an ER Small Laser. 
��These modifications reduced the firepower in close range and slightly reduced the range of the design, but the accuracy of the pulse system allied with the targeting computer make the Model P particularly dangerous against infantry.

I think not ...
The C3 slave could not act as a TAG, only the C3 Master (BMR page 125).
The Arrow IV still needs a TAG spotting to hit the target, ever when in close combat.
But what you said is true to C3 Master equipped mechs, if you have a lock, then you automatically have a target to the C3 slave with Arrow IV.

Perhaps you would like to clear things up with mechs with C3 and arrow 4. I think it work like this. You have a C3 slave equiped unit. An arrow 4 comes down and attacks the closest enemy ferst it automaticly tag him so you gust have to see if the missile hits. But in order for this to work your arrow 4 carrier needs to be part of the C3 Network. Rule obtained from TR 3050 unrevised.

Overview:

  Smoke Jaguars captured the Orochi Teppo facilities in Marshdale during the Clan Invasion. Orochi Cavalcanti and his technicians were captured and when the Orochi facilities were refitted to a clan second-line Mech production by the Smoke Jaguars, they were assigned to there as labors. 
  During the time they worked for the Jaguars, they managed to learn as much as possible of Clan technology and when the planet was liberated in the Operation Bulldog they seized the opportunity and help DCMS forces retaking the Orochi complex almost intact. 
  One of the units produced in the complex during Smoke Jaguars control was the robust Locust IIC SJ and that production line was recaptured intact. 
  When Orochi team was designing the Swarm C³ Company Concept, the Locust IIC came as a very good alternative to the recon unit needed in the project. Their main problem was the adaptation of the C³ Slave Computer in the Clan Technology. 
  Unfortunately, they could not resolve the mixing problems between the technologies and had to change all the electronics of the design to IS version to make it work. 
  The main modification includes:

  • increase the tonnage in 5 tons;
  • change the engine to a 270 XL;
  • add a MASC;
  • change the cockpit to an IS compact version;
  • change all electronics to Inner Sphere version;
  • add a C³ Slave;

  The result is a little expensive 30 ton Mech, but with 5.5 tons of Clan Ferro-Fibrous armor, a Clan ER Large Laser and 194 km/h of full speed.

 

Capabilities:

  Robust and fast, the Locust, in all his versions, is a stubbornness design. It could not be a great opponent to a heavy Mech, after all it is a light one, but its stings could be a hurt surprise in the field. 
  This variant have 5 tons more and the Clan ER Large Laser of the IIC SJ variant, but all their electronics was refitted with IS versions and a C³ Slave was added. Although the C³ works fine sending information to the master, the differences between the technologies could not be totally resolved, and the Mech itself could not use the C³ information from other units to help its targeting systems. 
  Nevertheless this problem the Swarm Locust could be very deadly in battlefield, when allied with the others SWARM Mechs. 
  With the MASC, mediums or heavier Mechs are easily outran and just some lights could get close fast enough to survive its ER Large Laser during the process. 
  At the end, this “heavy” Locust maintains the good traditions of the Locust design, and is a dangerous enemy in the battlefield.

Deployment:

  The mixed technologies problems in this design were never totally solved. Although they managed to get stable prototype versions, they could not manage to do it at the production units. Then, until some technological break out could resolve the mixing problems, the project was archived.

It is the SWM-3Lp version, that I do not uploaded yet.
But it has only the 2 Clan MPLs. There is no tonnage to the ERML (the ERLL (C) has 4 ton and each MPL (C) has 2)

Overview:

   Following the development of the surprisingly Nagareboshi-S in 3021, Orochi Teppo engineers became to deal with the main critics to the model: its high taxes of accidents due the pilot imprudence or lack of skill and its terrain dependency.
   Two different teams worked in the problem and the result was two completely new designs using the same basic conception but very different motive systems, the Nagareboshi-V, with VTOL capabilities, produced in Juazeiro plant, and the hovercraft Nagareboshi-H, produced in the brand new Marshdale plant.
   Looking at the terrain dependency problem of the S model, Marshdale team developed a very different vehicle to fulfill the same specifications as a debut exercise to the new Orochi Teppo plant.
   Unfortunately, the solution failed addressing the main critics made to the model S project: its high taxes of accidents due human mistakes or imprudence. The engineers hoped that the better balance of the hover motive system, mainly when compared to a motorcycle balance, would increase the safety of the design. It really did it, but not so much as they wanted.
   During all project, they had a high-motivated team working in a brand new plant. However, the team was too new and the schedule suffered with the delays until late 3022, when the first Nagareboshi-H came out from the production line.
   Although the team relative inexperience and the critics the design received from analysts, the Nagareboshi-H is a superb machine that has every renowned characteristic of the Nagareboshi series and soon became a popular toy amongst younger adults, like its older cousins.

Capabilities:

   The Nagareboshi-H, as its cousins, uses the same Magna 25 ICE as its main motive power, which pushes its 1.35 Ton to a top speed over Mach 0.6 in normal conditions. This superb performance from an ICE equipped surface vehicle was not exceeded until now in the Inner Sphere.
   The low cost of the previous Nagareboshi designs was preserved in this hovercraft edition; it costs less than 5.500 CBills. However, to many planetary authorities through the Inner Sphere, this is a dangerous combination of high velocity and low cost.
   Its little cabin resembles a one-man fighter cockpit, were comfort gives its place to functionality and safety. It is mounted into a survive cell made of a graphite compost and ferroglass to increase the pilot protection.
   Using a variation of the Jump Jets exhaustion ports concept to its lift mechanism, they managed to create the necessary air cushion under the design without the big skirts or fans commonly used in hovercrafts. Two rear mounted turbines provides the horizontal power and directional controls.

Variants:

   The Orochi Teppo Nagareboshi family of designs has three members, but they can't really be called variants, because they are very different machines developed to fulfill the same concept, a tiny, very fast and astonishing cheap civilian vehicles. The known members of the Nagareboshi family are:

   Nagareboshi-S: a superb motorcycle produced in Juazeiro in 3021;
   Nagareboshi-V: very fast VTOL developed in Juazeiro, 3022;
   Nagareboshi-H: a hovercraft developed in Marshdale, 3022;

   All Nagareboshi series were classified as civilian designs and Orochi Teppo Armories received permission to commercialize it to friendly realms. Because that, and the amount of time they are being produced, all designs could be found through the Inner Sphere.

Good image. The trouble with civilian vehicles in this game makes it difficult to use them as targets in city attacks (exactly how much damage does a Transit Bus take?) this gives us a real vehicle to work with and not just an armor value for the invading mechs to pop.

Overview:

   Extremely compact for its tonnage, this slave drone, or non-person as its name could be translated, was developed in 3063, in Marshdale plant, under a specific DCMS contract to re-equip its fast recon and light infantry units. To fulfill the contract, Orochi Teppo proposal combined the recon abilities of the Hinin Drone with a fast and good armored drone carrier hovercraft named Metsuke Scout and a set of cameras and image analyses system named Advanced Optical Probe.
   The Hinin main function is work inside a dangerous area or battlefield to get tri-vid images and tactical data, reducing unnecessary loss of lives common in this kind of mission. It is intended to act as an expendable recon element, executing his job in dangerous fields without risk a trained crew, protecting the lives of high skilled recon soldiers or mechwarriors and the loss of more valuable equipments.
   The Metsuke Scout and its Hinin Drones pair rapidly became very popular amongst scout units, but their commercial success were vastly eclipsed by their civilian versions, which became standards amongst Inner Sphere news companies after 3065.

Capabilities:

   Developed around its co-axial rotor, this 4 Ton VTOL drone was designed to speed through a battlefield, feeding its carrier controller with live tactical images and data.
   Outside its almost 300 Km/h of final speed, the only protection of the drone is its tiny frame and 350 Kg of Durallex Heavy Ferro-Fibrous Armor.
   Its base cost is under 53.000 CBills, and the drone comes with a non-standard pod into the body, which was developed to allow Hinin technician crew to easily exchange between three specially mounted equipments:

   · An Advanced Optical Probe;
       The AOP is the primary configuration, it allows the drone to map an area and send the data for an Intelligence Analyses Team outside of the field.

   · A TAG;
       Defined as its secondary configuration, the TAG transforms the drone in a fast and reliable artillery observer inside the battlefield.

   · A mech size Machine Gun with 100 shots;
       This tertiary configuration could be used to harass enemy positions during infantry movements. For example, it could be used to buy time during retreats.

   Of course, these items have additional costs, that could vary from only 6.000 CBills to the Machine Gun configuration up to 50.000 CBills to the TAG or to the default Advanced Optical Probe. A full package with all the three options for the pod has a total cost of 106.000 CBills.
   The main problem to use any drone in the battlefield is its vulnerability to ECM. To a flying unit, like the Hinin, the danger associated with the loss of the control signal increases exponentially. The common drone behaviors in this dangerous situation are to remain in the same place or to continue the last movement until the signal returns, which makes it an easy target.
   To difficult the enemy targeting during a loss of control signal, it comes with specialized security control software in its main system, which will try to maintain random movements near the position it had when the failure happens until the return of the signal.

Game Notes:

   · Changing the pod option
       In normal conditions, and with the right tools and training, one man could change the pod equipment in ten minutes without any roll.     Nevertheless, in stress conditions, it is necessary a technician or engineer skill roll against an easy TN of 10, to do the same thing.
       The base time necessary to stress conditions is five rounds, but it could be reduced down until two rounds for each point of margin of success in the roll.
       If the roll fails for three or less, the technician made the change, but add the double of this difference, in rounds, to the base time required.
       A critical failure means that the technician lost fifteen rounds and that the equipment already in the pod still working, but is gripped there until a full repair. Two consecutives critical failures damage the electronics of the pod, making it useless until repairs.

   · Loss of control signal
       The operator could change the system state during the movement phase, while he retains the control of the drone. However, if he does not declare it the system is considered "on".
       In the beginning of every movement phase where the drone does not have the carrier signal it will:
   System On: move 2d6-2 hexes making a d3 roll to select a front arc turn at each two hexes moved. It will not change its altitude nor avoid any obstacle, crashing in it if the dice calls for that direction.
   System Off: try to repeat exactly the last movement phase it performed.

   · Carrier construction
       A carrier needs a 4 Ton bay to receive a Hinin Drone with its main pod option or a Timmy Drone, and another Ton for each other pod option exchange it will carry for the Hinin.

Variants:

   The only known variant of the Hinin Drone is its civilian version, nicknamed Timmy from a dinosaur joke. 
   Mainly used to gather live tri-vid images of different events and costing only 95.000 CBills, it became the state of art through Inner Sphere news companies, because it could do any function which needs an aerial point of view and could be dangerous or costly to be performed by a live reporters team. 
   Its main differences from the military version are:

   - It does not have the specialized pod
       The pod was not assembled in it, which came only with the Advanced Optical Probe fixed in the body and calibrated to tri-vid image quality.

   - It uses a cheap I.C.E.
       Although the use of a 25 Magna I.C.E. in the place of the military Fusion Engine, the Timmy retains the same performance and characteristics of the Hinin.

   - It has no armor
       The tonnage cost of the engine change had to be paid off in armor, and then it has almost no armor, just a very slight protection to the rotor.

   It has the same ECM vulnerability of its military version. Then they use the same security option, which will try to maintain random movements in the same position if the carrier signal was lost.

Overview
   The Advanced Optical Probe was designed specifically for aerial recon missions prior to the combat, although civilian versions of it, where the software is tuned more to image quality than to military precision, are very popular between Inner Sphere news companies.
   Basically, it is an advanced set of lens, filters and cameras, connected to a computer with specialized software for real time image analysis. It simultaneously operates with normal, low-light and infrared cameras and filters, and using these sources, and the slight differences between them, to generate a very detailed 3D digital image, which could be sent to a remote receiver through the communication system of the vehicle.
   Real holographic images could be done, but only through the use of at least three AOP to cover all necessaries angles to mount the holography. Nevertheless, the 3D image generated by only one AOP is sufficient to automatically determine the positions and the distances between the objects in the line of sight of the equipment, which is particularly useful information to recon missions.
   Its high cost came from the high quality crystals lens and the high-specialized microcomputer, storage and software used in the system.

Game Notes
   The system makes a 360 degrees optical recon in its line of sight area, identifying any known unit, including infantry, and using the parallax effect between its different cameras to determine the exact position of each one in the field.
   The generated images could be recorded locally or could be sent to a remote computer using the communication system.
   All LOS rules apply.

   Obs: It was not designed to been used by the pilot, but if attached to the mech/vehicle sensors it will reduce the penalty to fight at night to +1.

Overview:

   Although the proved efficiency of the Hotaru HTU-1A, Orochi Cavalcanti failed when he tried to convince the his Nova Cat liaison to move it to the regular production line in Orochi Teppo Juazeiro plant.
   The lack of recourses, mainly the XL engine used in the HTU-1A, in its IS realms and some stubborn in their strictly definition of "waste of resources" were sufficient to overrode Orochi´s market projections to the design in other IS worlds.
   Although that, satisfied with the projections, mainly in the medium size companies market where the HTU-1A were too costly to be sold, and without Nova Cat support in Juazeiro, Orochi adapted the Hotaru project to be produced in Orochi Teppo Marshdale plant using only IS technology. This new VTOL was coded HTU-M1 to differ from its older brother.
   Using a cheaper I.C.E. to be more accessible and with a nominal capacity of four passengers and 1 Ton of cargo, this tiny VTOL is a personal VIP transport that could be used inside great cities. Its overall performance and low cost (less than 200.000,00 CBills and only 13% of the original HTU-1A cost) made the Hotaru HTU-M1 another Orochi Teppo market winner through the Inner Sphere.

Capabilities:

   The Hotaru HTU-M1 is an economically viable VIP fast transport for medium enterprises. Its cheaper and reliable 115 Magna I.C.E. pushes it to almost 230 Km/h over the city traffic or rough terrains.
   Weighting only 15 Ton and with a semi-automatic folding mechanism in its main rotor, the Hotaru HTU-M1 could be easily packed and transported in standard dropship containers. Although used for only a few buyers, this characteristic has a great acceptance amongst them, and is one of the most important features of the HTU-M1 when compared with its main competitors.
   Although its standard four-passenger bay is luxuriously made from factory, one important market feature of the HTU-M1 is that this bay was projected to allow each seller to redesign its interior at the buyer taste, making the HTU-M1 a little different from the others.
   One Ton of Standard Durallex Armor gives some protection to the passengers and to the pilot. Another important characteristic to the VIP market, normally concerned with terrorism, robbery and kidnaps.
