Overview:

Designed as a cheap artillery Mech, this version of the Urbanmech replaces the AC 10 of the UM-R60 with a massive Arrow IV artillery system. The small laser of the original returns in ER form in this redesign.

 

Capabilities:

The massive A4 launcher and two tons of ammunition allow the UM-A44 to lay down a steady barrage of artillery to approaching enemies. The launcher is spread between the Right arm and torso of the UM-A44. Since this design is not meant for close range fighting, the jump jets of the UM-R60 have been removed. Armour value has also been dropped to 5.0 tons which provides the Arrow IV equipped Urbnamech with 76% maximum protection. The design features 10 single heatsinks which sufficiently dissipate heat developed by the launcher. Structure has been altered to endo steel to allow the installation of the 15 ton A4 launcher and two tons of ammunition. The launcher alone comprises 50% of the Mech's mass. CASE provides pilot protection in case of an ammunition explosion.

Overview:

Designed as an anti aircraft mech, as well as a long range sniper...the UM-R60's AC10 has been replaced with a pair of Autocannon 2s. The small laser remains unchanged.

 

Capabilities:

The dual AC2s are supplied with 2 tons of ammunition, enough for 45 shots per autocannon. The Mech can hit enemies at ranges up to 720 meters. The small laser allows the mech to offer token counterfire for mechs that get into the UM-A60s autocannon minimum range.

Overview:

Designed as a more ammo efficient version of the popular UM-R60 Urbanmech, the UM-A62 replaces the AC 10 with an AC 5. The design loses none of it's damage potential, with the addition of a trio of medium lasers.

 

Capabilities:

The UM-A62 relies less on ammunition than it's predecessor. Although the AC 5 has half the damage potential of the original autocannon, it is supplied with 2 tons of ammunition for a total of 40 shots. The small laser remains, but the main weapon is also backed up with three medium class lasers. These lasers provide more damage potential at short and medium ranges. The AC 5 also has a greater range than the 10 class cannon, allowing this version of the Urbanmech to hit enemies at 540 meters.

Overview:

Designed to comabt infantry, the UM-I61 is equipped with multiple anti-infanty weapons. The AC 10 has been dropped and replaced with 6 standard machine guns. 1.5 tons of ammunition for the machine guns provides adequate weapon endurance. The design also mounts two flamers, 2 small lasers, and a 2 medium lasers.

 

Capabilities:

6 Machine guns, and 2 flamers provide the UM-I61 with excellent infantry damage potential. 2 small, and 2 medium lasers provide excellent damage potential against infantry and mechs alike. The design retains the jumpjets of the standard design, and armour value remains unchanged at 91% coverage. 15 heat sinks allow the mech to comfortably fire all weapons, even while jumping.

Overview:

Designed to provide long range support, and punish enemies in general at long range, the UM-R66 also can be damaging at medium range, thanks to it's backup weapons.

 

Capabilities:

The LRM 15 launcher is equipped with two tons of ammunition to provide excellent long range damage potential. The launcher can begin raining fire on enemies at 630 meters. For enemies trying to get within the LRMs minimum range, a trio of medium lasers as well as a pair of small lasers provides excellent medium and short range ability. 11 heat sinks allow the mech to remain cool, considering that the weapons are range specific. the familiar mobility of the UM-R60 remains in this redesign.

Overview:

This redesign of the classic UM-R60 is designed as a close range fighter. It mounts three 6 rack SRM launchers which are supplied with a total of 2 tons of ammunition. The familiar backup small laser remains unchanged.

 

Capabilities:

Capable of launching 18 short range missiles, the UM-S62 is capable of excellent short range damage potential. Two tons of SRM ammunition allow each launcher to fire 10 times before requiring resupply. The 13 heat sinks dissipate the heat buildup from all SRM fire, and requires only minor movement heat monitoring. The backup weapon remains unchanged in this version.

Overview:

A hybrid of old and new technology, the UM-R72 improves the performance of the standard medium laser using new targeting computer technology. The design also incorporates other advanced electronics in the form of ECM.

 

Capabilities:

The redesign makes use of the standard medium laser's reliability and proven performance. In the wake of upgraded technology, the Federated Suns found itself with surplus "old" equipment. The new advances in targeting computer technology allow the newest FS version of the Urbanmech to make use of older equipment with increased accuracy.

The design mounts 8 medium class lasers, linked with the targeting computer. 13 double strength heat sinks allow the UM-R72 pilot to fire and move at maximum movement with no heat worries. ECM was also installed to improve the mechs performance in close quarter combat.

This version of the UM-R60 is havily modified from the original. The structure has been improved to a lighter endo steel, and the heavy Autocannon has been replaced with the light class 2 rotary version. The backup weapons consist of 3 standard medium lasers.

 

Capabilities:

This version is capable of striking enemies at longer range than it's predecessor. It can engage at 540 meters, and is capable of extended rates of fire even at 6x mode, thanks to it's 2 tons of ammunition. The backup weapons are three medium lasers which provide good short range damage to units trying to close on the Urbanmech. The RAC 2 is arm mounted, and may flip to fire to the rear as with the UM-R60. The design includes the CASE system in the event of an ammunition explosion.

Overview:

Designed to punish enemy units approaching an urban center, the UM-G65 mounts a powerful guass rifle, in place of the normal AC/10. Damage potential is increased 50%, range is increased, and the ammunition supply has been doubled from the original.

 

Capabilities:

Capable of laying down fire at 660 meters, the UM-G65 can knock almost an entire ton of armour off an enemy Mech in a single attack. Since the guass rifle has a minimum range of 60 m, the design is not suited to close quarters fighting as UM-R60s would be. therefore, the design does not require the mobility of the original and does not mount the usual jump jets. Armour was also reduced to 5.0 tons of ferro fibrous armour providing 83% maximum armour protection. CASE protects the right torso from a guass rifle explosion, but the design does not carry any explosive ammunition.

Overview:

Designed to supply long range damage potential with no ammunition worries, the UM-L68 is armed with 2 extended range Large lasers, and a single small pulse laser.

 

Capabilities:

the bulky and ammunition dependent autocannon has been replaced in this version with 2 ER Lg lasers. These lasers provide 60% more damage potential, while increasing the range targetting ability to 570 meters. The small laser has been replaced with an improved small class pulse version. 13 double strength heatsinks allow the Mech to cope with the heatbuildup of firing both large class lasers. The design is similar to the UM-R60 in that the structure and mobility remain unchanged. The armour value has been increased 0.5 tons which provides 99% maximum armour coverage.

Overview:

Mechwarriors! Are you stationed on worlds where the 60 rated Fusion engine is harder to come by than a cupcake at a fat guys house? How about those outrageous Technician salaries?! Are you tired of paying top cbill for know it all fusion engine repair technicians who only do the job half right, AND expect you to thank them for it afterwards? Well finally someone built an Urbanmech the RIGHT WAY! Yes warriors, the time for the Internal Combustion Urbanmech is now. The only question you need to ask yourselves is "How many do I want to purchase!"

Capabilities:

The UM-I60 Urbanmech gets rid of the fusion engine of the original, and replaces it with a top of the line Internal Combustion Diesel Engine. For unit's stationed without easy access to fusion parts or technicians, the ICE Urbanmech is the perfect choice for city defence.


The heavier ICE caused a few changes to be made to the elementary UM-R60 design profile. No longer is a mighty AC/10 mounted in the left arm. Instead, a much more efficient, albeit less damaging Sunrise Large class laser takes it's place. The reliability, and practicality of the small laser backup weapon has not been changed, however. Why tamper with success?


Mobility is reduced further in this design, as the ICE prevented the mounting of jumpjets. In order to curtail this drawback designers decided to beef up the armour protection to ensure pilot safety. Armour protection is now 92%, which is slightly higher than the UM-R60's 91% armour coverage. All this protection is made possible by the addition of Ferro fibrous armour to the mechs chassis.


Designers also converted the Mechs Internal structure to the composite type, as another measure to offset the increased weight of the ICE.


The Composite structure and ferro fibrous armour do not inflate the cost of the design, however. Rather, this Urbanmech is even cheaper than the original UM-R60! [Based on comparisons of price purchased as new of 1,333,085 cbills for the I60 versus 1,471,925 cbills for the R60] All this is possible to the cheap but reliable Diesel power plant.


The all energy configuration of the Large laser, and small laser allow this UM-I60 to operate independently of ammunition supplies. All that is required is access to a fuel depot, and this Urbanmech can remain in operation indefinitely. Urbanmech Paradise recommends that you fuel your Urbanmech UM-I60 with "Petro-Sphere" brand diesel fuel.


The design is equipped with 10 standard heat sinks,which although do not allow for total dissipation of maximum heat generated does allow for a 91% heat dissipation rate.

You know if this was a mech desgned for any other form of battle, I would kill myself if I was told to pilot one of these in anything other than a sim. seeing as it is a design for specific uses only, I would have to say that my only beef with this mech would be that first of all, I would not rely on laser's, second if you must design a mech with lasers, then you must also make it have a fusion engine. other than that it is indeed a good mech for it's designed purpose.

Of course, I would never voluntarily pilot this thing, but then again, I'm not on a world where people have to worry about finding fusion engines.

Overview:

The UM-R90 is the premier Urbanmech for commanders. Modelled after the UM-R60, the Command issue Urbanmech has been updated with advanced technologies available to the Federated Suns.

 

Capabilities:

Outwardly, the UM-R90 looks similar to the original UM-R60. The similarity is only skin deep, however. The Command issue Urbanmech's Autocannon 10 has been replaced with the lighter and more versatile LB 10X. The samll laser in the left arm has been upgraded to the extended range version.

At the heart of the changes however is the UM-R90's mobility. Mobility is doubled using the advanced new Light Engine available to the Federated Suns. Armour protection has been improved to 94% using Ferro fibrous technology, and the Mech's skeleton is made use the bulky, but lighter Endo Steel.

The UM-R90 can move at 64 kph, and may jump a maximum of 120 meters. the changes in the Urbanmech's design are meant to prove a nasty surprise to anyone expecting the UM-R90 to have the same ability as the original UM-R60. the design protects the pilot using the CASE system.

I like it, drop the Jump Jets and add a Targeting computer and some Cluster Ammo, and u got urself a nasty little bugger of an anti-air 'Mech, a company of these in a city will mess a whole airjock's day for sure!
