Despite their best efforts, none of the upgrades developed have improved the Whitworth's reputation in the eyes of many Mechwarriors. Still, the company perservered in their efforts, resulting in a variant known as the WTH-2K Whitworth, which made its debut in 3071. Capabilities: The WTH-2K variant of the Whitworth was primarily inspired by the WTH-1S and the WTH-K models. This variant utilizes the same Endo-Steel Internal Structure like the WTH-K, but drops the improved jump jets in favor of the original Jetlift versions. In terms of armament, each arm is fitted with a Lord's Light 4 model Light PPC that's coupled with a PPC Capacitor, providing the 'mech with stronger direct-fire capabilities. These are supported by an MML-5 launcher in each side torso, supplied with a ton of LRM ammo and one ton of SRM ammo. Rounding out the armament is a head-mounted Diverse Optics ER Medium Laser. The WTH-2K has ten double heat sinks to dissipate waste heat, while CASE in each side torso improves protection against ammo explosions, although this required the use of XL Gyro in order to free up the necessary tonnage. Deployment: So far, only the DCMS makes use of this Whitworth variant. ================================================================================ Equipment Type Rating Mass -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Internal Structure: Endo-Steel 67 points 2.00 Internal Locations: 1 LT, 1 RT, 6 LA, 6 RA Engine: Fusion Engine 160 6.00 Walking MP: 4 Running MP: 6 Jumping MP: 4 Standard Jump Jet Locations: 2 LL, 2 RL 2.00 Heat Sinks: Double Heat Sink 10(20) 0.00 Heat Sink Locations: 2 LT, 2 RT Gyro: XL 1.00 Cockpit: Standard 3.00 Actuators: L: SH+UA+LA R: SH+UA+LA Armor: Standard Armor AV - 128 8.00 CASE Locations: 1 LT, 1 RT 1.00 Internal Armor Structure Factor Head 3 9 Center Torso 12 17 Center Torso (rear) 6 L/R Torso 10 15 L/R Torso (rear) 5 L/R Arm 6 12 L/R Leg 10 16 ================================================================================ Equipment Location Heat Critical Mass -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Light PPC + PPC Capacitor RA 10 2 3.00 Light PPC + PPC Capacitor RA 5* 1 1.00 Light PPC + PPC Capacitor LA 10 2 3.00 Light PPC + PPC Capacitor LA 5* 1 1.00 MML-5 RT 3 3 3.00 MML-5 LT 3 3 3.00 ER Medium Laser HD 5 1 1.00 @MML-5 (SRM) (20) RT - 1 1.00 @MML-5 (LRM) (24) LT - 1 1.00 Free Critical Slots: 0 BattleForce Statistics MV S (+0) M (+2) L (+4) E (+6) Wt. It's good, for a Whitworth. It's a decent take on an inexpensive support mech, it is going to run a bit hot though. I think as it could serve well in a garrison or backwater role, and could be integrated into more frontline units as needed with a swap of the ER medium for a c3 slave.

I would try to increase the size of the MML.

Dropping the Er medium laser and capacitors would allow for MML 7s to be installed. Though they would be a little underfed with only two tons of ammo between them.

It wouldn't be worth it then. The MML5s are fine.

Honestly, I'd try to get rid of the XL Gyro for a standard instead of mess with anything else in the loadout. Capped LPPCs are a favorite of mine, and here it can fire one off with the MMLs, ER Medium and run for only +3 heat.,

I guess it is a matter of personal preferences.

Pretty much for just about every design IH.
